Sadiq was appointed a Minister in the Government's Whips office in July 2007.

Parliamentary convention means that Sadiq, like other Government Whips and ministers, is unable to make speeches or ask questions in the Parliamentary Chamber. Instead, he now raises the issues important to local people in Tooting directly with the relevant Ministers.
